This is the hCG protocol as I understand it.
Please do not take my information as medical advice, consult your physician before starting on any weight loss program! Also understand that this information relates to medically dispensed hCG INJECTIONS, this is NOT the stuff you can purchase on the internet, this is NOT the homeopathic version. Not that I'm against homeopathy, on the contrary I use homeopathics in my daily life.
The medical spa where I am receiving my supplies has put me on a 40 day protocol, after the 40 days I will have a 20 day maintenance period after which I may choose to continue onto another 40 day protocol.
We started on a Tuesday and have been instructed to calorie load from Tuesday through Friday. We are taking in anywhere from 3500 to 5000 calories per day on the calorie load days. Apparently the more calories you intake on the load days the more weight you will lose on the fasting days.
Saturday begins the fast, we will drop down to 500 calories per day... I know, I know sounds like starvation doesn't it? Well until I met with the staff at the medical spa I would have agreed with you! I've always been taught that anything under 1200 calories per day is a starvation diet and will shut down your metabolism. 500 calories a day in the right form is enough to keep your brain functional. Your body may slow down and you may be sluggish, but it won't last forever!
We will meet with our consultant weekly to weigh in, measure, receive a B6/12 combination (to help with energy) and pick up our supplies for the following week!
Fluids are extremely important on this protocol. You can drink unlimited amounts of water, crystal light, coffee, tea or diet soda, just be aware that if you are drinking caffinated beverages that you will have to drink an extra glass of water or two to counter the caffeine. *In the past I have been told that this isn't true. However, the team in charge of my program have informed me that it is a true statement* You also have to be aware that dehydration and water retention can be a problem with an hCG protocol, so truly drinking as much water as you can suck down is encouraged!
Do NOT work out while on the fasting period of the hCG protocol, you will increase your appetite and will physically exhaust yourself and on 500 calories a day you most likely won't recover and could jeapordize your success!
If you follow the protocol you can expect to lose 1 - 2 lbs per day... Exciting right??? I think so!
During the maintenance period you increase your calorie intake to 1000 calories per day. I'm obviously not there yet, but I hope that you will check back later for more information in this section!
