Day 9 - My hCG Experience

Well so maybe the hCG is causing some of the headaches, I had another one today - I knew this was a possibility, but it doesn't make it any less painful, so I am going to have to call in my refills for my meds! Down a little bit more, and I can't deny that I really am excited!!! Today I was actually able to get into a pair of capris that I bought 3 months ago and never could wear!! Amazing what 10 lbs can do! For now I'm off to bed because my brain really isn't working tonight, total pain overload while driving an hour with on coming lights, so off to take my meds and then to bed!

Day 8 - My hCG Experience

A little more weight loss!  Totally dragging ass today, maybe they were wrong about not needing the b12/6 shot thing!  So I called and made an appt for tomorrow morning so that we can get one!  Keeping things simple food wise, so far we've pretty much been eating the same thing daily LOL  Sometime next week I'll start jazzing things up, I just needed to ease into this!

Day 7 - My hCG Experience

Today is day 7 - I went into the Med Spa to pick up my next round of shots, weighed in and measured.  No B12/6 shot combo needed, I'm not lacking in energy - I had a slight headache today, but I still believe that it's just because of yesterdays headache, I already have hormonal headaches and they haven't become more frequent since the shots and since yesterday and today were the first ones to surface since starting the protocol, I'll assume its just me : )

I'm down 2 more pounds - I'm totally thrilled but will save the excitement until I'm down at least 20!  I was able to ask a few more questions today, and I don't think they are really ready for people to ask anything, I didn't get answers to all of them, and that's ok - I'll just figure it out on my own or something!

I did find out Pickles are a free food, no calories - life is good, as well as cabbage and celery - I can also have SF jello to help with any sweet tooth I might have.  I grabbed some of the bariatrix protien bars they sell just to make breakfast an easy choice, I hate eggs!  My Ketone levels are hovering between negative and small so I think I really need to up my protein although I do risk upping my calories... Will have to consult my Dr on this one!

Day 6 - My hCG Experience

As you can see by my weight tracker I am down 4.4lbs - This is a late post, but I was suffering from a migraine yesterday.. so just pretend its yesterday!

As I mentioned, I had a headache I don't believe its from the shots, its hormonal that's for sure but for other reasons.  It was a very, very difficult crave day for me which also tells me that it would be my cycle time if I had a uterus LOL - The ovaries are still there so I still have all of the symptoms including headaches, swelling and cravings!!  I worked through it but had to force half a cake on my kids, if they didn't eat it I would have!  All is well that ends well, I'm happy about the loss, this seems to be working!!!

Day 5 - My hCG Experience

Today I dropped down to 500 Calories, really its not that tough, I didn't really eat much more than that to begin with, except on those "craving" days that most girls get!  I'm really tired but I doubt that has anything to do with the hCG.

Before I go any further with this blog I guess I should let everyone know that the hCG protocol I'm involved with has NOTHING to do with Kevin Trudeau or Dr. Simmeon's hCG protocol.  I personally wouldn't trust a word that came out of Kevin Trudeau's mouth.  With that being said, I urge ANYONE who is considering hCG as an option for weight loss to talk to your Doctor, ask them for information, call around to find a medical spa.  Not all doctors are on the hCG bandwagon, I was lucky enough to have an open minded doctor, she has also used the protocol, as well as my hand surgeon.

I also want to remind everyone to CHECK the nutritional information on your spices! I found out today that my favorite spice blend - Montreal Steak Seasoning - has CALORIES! Why? It has OIL in it, so I will not be using that while on the protocol. READ YOUR LABELS & if you really want to make your life a lot easier buy a digital scale, one that can weigh in oz/lbs as well as kg/g - it makes my life so much easier!

So today I had caffeine for breakfast in the form of a diet pepsi (breakfast of champions!)

Lunch:  Salad - lettuce, cucumber, bell pepper, onion, radishes and tomatoes.  I made the dressing, it was just a simple one, Balsamic vinegar, mustard seed, mustard powder, minced garlic, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and a dash of sweet n low.

Dinner:  3.5 oz of Chicken breast (Boneless and skinless) Weighed BEFORE cooking.  I sprinkled it with Salt, pepper, garlic, and paprika.  I also had vege's that I roasted in my Traeger BBQ with some garlic powder and Bragg liquid aminos.  The veg was a blend of Cabbage, brocolli, sliced garlic, scallions, bell pepper, Bamboo shoots and a few water chestnuts.  Simple but good!

If I had today to do over again I would have had some protein with lunch, I actually fell short on my calorie count today and did not hit my 500 Calories, I don't know if that's a bad thing, I'm not even sure if when I figured it out I should have eaten something!  Guess I'll ask next time I go in for supplies.

Day 3 - My hCG Experience

Nothing new to report really, unless you want to hear all about my new tattoo... but that isn't what you are here for!  Today is still a load day, in order to get in the calories I resorted to eating McDonalds, now my stomach hurts!  I have gone down a few ounces, but I'm not sure if I was supposed to yet, I really thought I was supposed to gain on the load days.  I'm not questioning it LOL!

Made a call to the Spa today to ask about eggs, since they aren't listed on the do or don't list and they have OK'd egg whites, egg beaters etc as long as they are fat free!  Tomorrow is my last load day - I'm ready to do this, I want to start the 500 Cal cycle so I can get this weight off!!

Day 2 - My hCG Experience

So here we are, Day 2.. uneventful : ))

I wasn't expecting to lose anything considering they have us calorie loading through Friday (see the protocols), I was actually expecting to be heavier, but I'm still the same!  So I'm taking from now until Saturday AM to compile recipes that will work with the 500 calorie daily requirement.  No wonder this information isn't readily available, no one wants to take the time, LOL!

Other than a mad scramble trying to find the alcohol (the rubbing kind... although I could use a martini about now!) the injections went well, I'm anxious for Saturday! From what I understand we should see the first amount of weight loss on Sunday!  I'll keep you posted!

Day 1 - My hCG Experience

Today M and I met with the wonderful staff at Medical Spa LaCost here in Astoria, Oregon.

We talked, asked questions, presented our medical history and bloodwork, after we were ok'd for the hCG we were given instruction on how to inject the hCG (Even had to do it in front of them to prove we were listening LOL), our supplies for the week and an info packet. Off we went! Of course M didn't do much listening hoping that I was, aww love... isn't it grand?!

Anyhow, so this is Day 1, the injections do NOT hurt, I was worried about that, but I can't even feel the needle going in! Today was a little weird and some what vague, you see there are protocols that must be followed while on hCG and in the maintenance period but very little of this information is available, to the point that I have to wonder if you aren't just flying by the seat of your pants while you do this!

The packet that we received did have a list of do's & don'ts and a small sample grocery list, but it was far from all inclusive, and it is that lack of information received and readily available which inspired this blog, my plan is to share my story, simple as that. I want to share with my readers more information than has been supplied to me! Do's, Don'ts, what to buy, recipes and more!

If you would like to see a list of protocols (the ones that I am aware of) please see my hCG Protocol page

Where it all began...

My story is probably like so many you may have heard... When I was thin I thought I was fat, so I started dieting at about age 14.  Anyone who knew me way back when could probably tell you that I was never cheerleader thin, but I was far from fat.  So began the destruction of my metabolism.

These changes to your body never show up immediately it's always years down the line when you really need your body to cooperate!  After my third child I found myself unable to lose weight easily, and then the weight loss stopped completely.  I moved to Oregon 13 yrs ago and over the years I have gained 98lbs.  My thyroid is out of whack, I am now in insulin resistance (not diabetic) and my cholesterol levels have climbed.  In 2009 I did manage to lose 20 some odd pounds.

So here I am, I need to lose 100lbs.  I eat healthy when I eat, I have no appetite, trust me when I say this is NOT a fork to mouth problem.  When you are overweight it is so easy for everyone to just assume that you eat too much or eat the wrong things, I would really like to see these myths dispelled but it probably won't happen in my lifetime.  On suggestion of my Dr. I have decided to embark on a new journey and do something I said that I would never do and that is to begin a round or two of hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin). The real stuff people... not the BS you can buy online... I am being seen at a medical spa where I recieve my weeks worth of supplies and then go home and inject myself nightly.  Thankfully my wonderful hubby is coming on this journey with me, but his is another story!
